Anastasia Shavlokhova is an independent curator of contemporary art (born in 1984, Saint-Petersburg, Russia). Her practice ranges from gallery exhibitions to video art festivals, educational programs, collaborations with the biggest art institutions etc. 

Her most significant exhibitions include The Space of Silence at the factory Krasnoe Znamya in Saint-Petersburg (2009); video art festival Video Capture, co-curated with Victoria Ilyushkina (2010); exhibition Marble by Fabio Viale at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow (2011); exhibition One Place Next to Another at the Centre for Contemporary Art Winzavod in Moscow, co-curated with Lukas Toepfer (2015); exhibition Prospect Nepokorennie at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2017).

Anastasia studied history of art and art criticism at the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design. After the graduation she became one of the founders and the artistic director of the first of its kind open studio Nepokorennie (2007-2011). Nepokorennie is still one of a very few non-profit independent art spaces in Russia that provides working spaces for young artists.

Shavlokhova is one of the founders and the first curator of the “START” project at the Centre for Contemporary Art Winzavod in Moscow, that showcases works of up-and-coming young Russian artists often for the first time in their lives (2008-2009). She is also one of the permanent curators and founders of the Philosophical Club, Moscow.  

Anastasia was awarded the Kariotida award by the Russian Ministry of Culture as the best emerging curator in 2011 and is a holder of The German Chancellor Fellowship (Alexander von Humboldt Foundation), 2012-2013.
